Prawn Fried rice is a meal which can be made jiffy, not much of fuss and guess if you a prawn lover, you will love it. This recipe comes from my partner’s bag. He is the one who loves prawns and lately has passed on the taste to my little one. With two prawn lovers in house now, am out numbered, but still pleased that my family gets to eat what they love. This recipe is an Indian adaptation of Chinese prawn rice.

The procedure to make these scrumptious prawn fried rice is real simple. Steps include boiling rice till they are 90% done and then frying along side prawns, soy sauce and vegetables of your choice. In this recipe have used spring onions.

Recipe of this prawn fried rice is fairly similar to egg fried rice. For that matter, in this prawn fried rice, eggs have been used as well. You can skip adding egg, however I believe adding eggs give a nice distinct taste to rice.

Prawn Fried Rice
Ingredients
- 2 Eggs
- 50 Grams Spiring Onion Chopped
- 1 Tablespoon Soy souce
- 1 Inch Piece Ginger Grated
- 3 Garlic Cloves Grated
- 250 Grams Prawns I have used pre-cooked. You can use raw and pre-cook.
- 200 Grams Rice
- 2 Tablespoon Oil
- Black pepper powder To Taste
- Salt To Taste
Instructions
- First of all wash and soak rice for 10-15mins and then cook the rice them in enough water till they are 90% done. Drain them and keep it aside.
- Now in a pan, add oil, once heated add grated ginger and garlic. Add Chopped spring onion into it once garlic and ginger has been roasted a bit.
- Once onions are done a bit, add salt and pepper, add beaten eggs and mix it well in the pan.
- Now add prawns and soy sauce, saute it well for 3 mins.
- Finally add the rice and mix them well. Cover with lid and let it cook for 2-3 mins.
- Finally plate it and garnish with spring onions, chillies, cabbage. Serve hot.
Notes
- If you using raw prawn they look grey in color, make sure you clean it well and pre-cook it. Pre-cooked prawns look pinkish in color.
- You can add green peas and other vegetables in this.
- Reason to cook rice 90% is so to avoid it getting broken while mixing in the pan, and remaining 5% will get cooked in the pan with prawns.
