What is Virgin Mojito
“Virgin Mojito” is the non-alcoholic version of “Mojito” and is categorised as a mocktail. Mojito is primarily an alcohol based drink which has mint leaves, lemon juice (citrus flavours) and sugar. In Russia / Ukraine region it is referred as Makhita. Mojito is extremely refreshing.
What is a Mocktail
When you replicate the steps of a cocktail to present a drink which is as beautiful and as tasty as a cocktail, but does not contain alcohol, it is called mocktail. You can make mocktails by mixing combinations of sodas, juices, syrups and herbs to invent unique flavours. To make mocktails, you will need same tools as used for cocktails, e.g. a mixer. The outcome of mixing these soda, syrups, herbs and juices is a tasty and refreshing drink, which is as good as cocktail, minus alcohol. Lack of alcohol makes it suitable for everyone.

I have to confess that I am a hardcore mocktail person. This means, if I have drinks out in an event or party, I can still drive car. I love being a perfect host too, and when so ever I host any party at home, I do try to add a mocktail in my event.
The beauty of Virgin Mojito is that its extremely refreshing, thanks to mint in it. If its summer party, virgin mojito is a must.
Method of making Virgin Mojito Mocktail
- Take a tall glass in which you are planning to serve your mojito and add sugar syrup, salt, lemon juice and mojito syrup to it.
- Crush the mint leaves. You can crush the leaves in your palm too.
- Now add 6-7 crushed mint leaves to it and fill the glass half with crushed ice.
- Now pour Sprite / Lemonade / 7UP into it and garnish with some lemon wedges and mint leaves.
Virgin Mojito Ingredients
- Lemon Juice. You can use fresh or bottled juice
- Fresh Mint Leaves. These leaves gives the real flavour and adds to refreshing taste.
- Soda water. You can use 7up, or sprite. Adjust sugar based on what you using. If its soda water you need more sugar as against to sprite.
- Sugar. This is to add to sweetness. You can also use sugar to garnish the glass rim.
- Ice. It is must to have ice to get the chilling cold effect. You will need to use crushed ice, to give slush like feel.
- Salt. A pinch of salt, makes the taste even better. You may skip it, if you don’t like this taste.
- Mojito Syrup. If you have this syrup, its good. If you don’t then don’t worry. Add few more mint leaves, 1.5 tsp of sugar and 1 tsp lime juice.
Serving Suggestion
Serve virgin mojito fresh by adding mint and ice. Note that the recipe is for 1 glass, but the time taken for making 10 glass will still be almost same.
