Degustabox Review – July 2020

Its almost the tail of August in 2020 and been 5 months that we all are fighting with the virus. I miss the freedom pre-covid phase, I miss meeting friends frequently, I miss the free movement, I miss going on holidays. However one thing which I have not missed so much is the supply of food from Degustabox – A monthly subscription box service. Here is my personal views on the contents of July box of Degustabox shared as review.

What is Degustabox?

Degusta box is an online food subscription service in UK, delivering surprise box of food items on every month. The products in the box are combination of well known products in market or new products yet to hit the shelves.

I get my box delivered every month in timely fashion (Much early this time). Box costs £12.99 in subscription, and typically have 10-13 different types of products. Products range from vegan, gluten-free, vegetarian, meat based, energy drinks, alcoholic drinks. All sorts of products and that’s the surprise. All products are worthy, in general. The contents of box itself normally cost more than £22.50, hence its a bargain. Please note the review I am sharing here is the PR box I got and the box a normal subscriber gets will be little different.

What is subscription service?

Subscription based model is not new now. It is a service where you pay to receive goods / service at regular intervals. E.g. Netflix, or Amazon Prime. Some of these services have a contract duration and some are on monthly contract only, i.e. if you don’t like them, then move on with no commitments, Degustabox is one such service, which does not tie its consumers into monthly service.

So why degusta box?

Degustabox is a fairly good subscription service, with value for money, and no commitments. Monthly subscription is £12.99 and you new member and use a code given below in this post, can bring the first month’s cost to £10.99. In my experience the products offered have always exceeded the value of box by miles. Least to say the surprise aspect is always fun!

Degusta box delivery

Delivery of degusta box is done by a trusted fulfilment partner, i.e. DHL or similar. You are kept informed when the box will be delivered and you can re-schedule the delivery too.

Pravha

I am not a beer person, however my hubby is never shy of drinking beer. He had never heard of Pravha beer, and the bottle was received with mixed thoughts. Once he had the full bottle, he seemed content with the crispiness and refreshing taste of the beer. He reckons that he will like to have it again. Based on his views, I will recommend the beer drinkers to try it once. The big bottle (as shown in pic) costs £2.00 and hence not costly.

The Skinny Food Co

Oh this was surprise. I have never tasted the products from the skinny food co. I got four sachets in the box. Perfect Mayo, Tomato Sauce, White chocolate and garlic mayo. Garlic mayo surely impressed me. I have no idea how much these costs, but these are available in local super stores. Will I buy? Probably I will check other varieties too.

Premier Protein Chocolate Brownie

High in protein and good in taste. What else one needs? Each bar contains 20g of protein. Hubby had the bar as part of his post workout treat. There are other flavours too. Each bar costs £1.49 and available at Ocado and WHSmith Travel. I won’t mind buying it.

Nesquik Milkshake Powder

Just in time! When I was about to order new pack of Nesquick milkshake, here I find in the box. My daughter takes this milkshake on regular basis and is happy with it. Great taste and happy kids! It has no artificial flavouring and the pack costs merely £1.89. Available in most of the UK Superstores as well as Amazon.

Golden Creek Maple Syrup

Who does not like good maple syrup? Pour this syrup over dessert of your choice. A very handy syrup to keep in kitchen cupboard. It does not cost a future either, only £2.49 (for the bottle pictured below). Available in Ocade, HomeBargain and online too on few retailers. I have had this syrup on my rice pudding as well as pancakes. Yet to try on other desserts.

Minor Figures Nitro Cold Brew

I received on can of coffee on the pack. Again one for hubby. He loved the cold brew. He felt it had great taste and not too heavy. Just what you want for British Summer. The drink was pretty smooth. Priced at £1.95 per can seemed little high but if I compare it with a proper drink at starbucks etc, its still on lower side. Worth a try!

Wunda Milk Alternative

A brilliant milk alternative for all those with milk allergy. High in protein, low in sugar and fat. However this product from Nestle is no more available in market and will be re-launched. Looking forward to have it. I used it in my tea most of the times. Taste was pretty good, you won’t miss real milk from cow.

Plant Pops Lutus Seeds

Absolutely love lotus seeds. I have my own recipes of lotus seeds, such as this roasted one. Getting this yummy snack on the box was very much welcome and acted as a great munch! The pack costs £1.50 and is not costly, considering how much costly the raw foxnut seeds are. I will recommend it. Or you can get raw ones and use my recipe to roast at home with our favourite spices.

Natvia Natural Sweetner

Looking to quit or reduce sugar intake? Natvia could be your answer. The beauty of this is that it does not leave any after taste (as compared to other brands). I am hooked on to this sugar replacement. The pack is bit steep in pricing, £5.00, however its worthy. I will recommend you to tryy this out. Available at Tesco, Ocado and few other places.
