Apple Pie Samosa – A sweet samosa recipe – Who does not know about samosa? Originating from Indian subcontinent, samosa has gone all over the world and has morphed into various forms. Whilst for me the original Punjabi samosa remains most favourite, however with kids in house, I have to think of food which is kid friendly too. This apple pie samosa comes handy for the kids.

Recently I shared apple pockets, from the apples shared by a friend, and with some of the left over apples as well as with the thought of samosa in mind, I decided I will make apple pie samosa.
Recipe of this sweet samosa is simple and I have taken short cut that I have used filo sheets for wrapping, but if you rather use traditional method, you can use flour dough too.
Method
- Heat butter in a pan over high heat and add apples to it. Saute for 2-3 minutes and then add raisins and sugar. Mix well and cover the pan with lid and cook for 5-7 minutes over low heat.
- Open the lid and increase the heat to medium and cook till all the water evaporates. Add cinnamon power and nutmeg powder and mix well. Switch off the heat and let the mixture cool.
- Mix one tablespoon of flour and water to make a paste. We will use this to stick the edges of samosa.
- Divide each filo sheet into 3, that way we will have 12 strips. Take one and put 1 tablespoon mixture on the side as shown in video. Fold it to give a shape of samosa and stick the edge with the flour water paste.
- Make all the samosa by repeating the above process, and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a pan/Kadhai and fry them till they are nice golden brown on both the sides. Take them out on a kitchen towel.

Just like any other samosa, this samosa needs a filling and our filling here is apple, which is subsequently wrapped in filo sheet and fried. In this recipe of mine, I have deep fried the samosa, but for more health cautious readers, I will suggest using an air fryer.
